Hi there!
I consider myself a film buff of sort. I especially have a place in my heart for foreign and Indie/Non-Hollywood films. If anyone has input, suggestion or wants to share a film they love I would like to hear about it. I am into any genre of film and any time period. Of course if you live outside the U.S they may not be foreign to you, but feel free to discuss the films you like.

Enjoy

I just watched 'Welcome to Sarajevo' a few days ago and really enjoyed it. Not a happy film, but ultimately I found it very satisfying.

Welcom to Sarajevo was a very good movie. If you have ever seen any documentaries of the war, it makes it even more chilling.

Have you seen the latest Winterbottom film Nine Songs? I have heard very mixed reviews about it.

Have you seen "Talk to Her"? It is a little depressing, and yet somehow i came away from it very hopeful. I am also on a serious Akira Kurosawa kick right now (Yojimbo, Roshomon, Throne of Blood, etc.)

Talk to Her was an excellent film. Kurosawa is a favorite of mine, I can just watch his films over and over. I suggest Ikiru, It's a very somber film but it has so much meaning. Also I haven't yet seen "Nine Songs" can anyone recommend it?

Nine Songs has been very controversial. It was banned in Australia. Its about a relationship, and basically involves XXX sex scenes, interspersed with the couple hanging out and listening to bands. Not your typical Winterbottom film (resisting the urge to make a pun here).

Ah "Nine Songs" you jogged my memory. I remember reading about this film last year. It's supposed to be very graphic and controversial, I haven't seen it yet. I think they are shooting for a release here in June or July. I'll see how it goes, I kinda like "controversial" films.

The French version of Beauty and the Beast is one of the most visually stunning movies I've ever seen...when the beast dies and Beauty cries, her tears turn into diamonds...gorgeous
